The HDI Motown Chapter is a Community of service and support professionals that provides regular Opportunities for its members to network, exchange best practices and enhance their skills through sponsored training and relevant educational programs.

There are a number of organizations out there for professionals in the customer service field. HDI is the organization that specifically serves Information Technology service and support professionals. We understand the unique challenges and requirements of technical help desks and we seek to provide IT support professionals with the information, training and resources they need to succeed and grow.

HDI Motown’s programs and events are free and open to all in or interested in the IT Service industry in the metro-Detroit. Participants can enjoy peer-to-peer interactions at special events and regular chapter meetings. This allows members to share best practices and catch up on the latest industry information. At our chapter meetings, speakers present information on specific areas of interest to service and support professionals. Support Center tours are sometime available to allow members to see other support centers in action. Our Analyst of the Year awards program and event provides managers with a way to recognize and reward their front line analysts in a special and very meaningful way. To top this all off, HDI national provides members with access to discounted training, resource materials and more depending on your level of membership.

Unlike other organizations, which may focus exclusively on one, specific area of interest to service and support professionals, HDI Motown takes a holistic approach, seeking to provide members with information across the spectrum of the industry. We may not give you in depth training in ITIL or the latest VOIP technology but we get them on your radar screen and tell you where you can get in depth training. We alert you to trends that affect the entire industry and offer resources to help you formulate your strategies for the future. We take professional development for IT Service and Support professionals at all levels seriously. We give you the tools you need to demonstrate your desk’s value to your organization and to continuously improve your desk’s operations.

HDI Motown is a registered non-profit organization, chartered on December 15 1999, whose purpose it to provide meaningful content and an opportunity to network with other in the IT Service Industry. the Chapter is managed by experienced and influential volunteers from the local service and support industry who strive to work together to raise the bar in our industry. HDI Motown depends on membership and sponsor support and involvement to succeed in our mission.

Founded in 1989, HDI is the world’s largest membership, training, and certification association for technical support professionals. HDI curriculum addresses the needs of technical support professionals throughout their careers and the various maturity levels of their support operations. Also known as the Help Desk Institute, the company was rebranded in 2005 to HDI as a means to acknowledge the expanding role of the support center and the maturing service management industry. A Think Services company, HDI is vendor-neutral in its efforts to facilitate open, independent networking and information sharing within the association’s global network. HDI serves approximately 50,000 community members and supports 68 local chapters worldwidAs members in the metro-Detroit area purchase annual memberships to HDI, $65 of that annual fee is transferred to HDI Motown to fund chapter meetings, events, speakers, etc

The Automation Alley region is home to more than 311,000 technology workers and 7,800 technology businesses. It encompasses Genesee County, Livingston County, Macomb County, Monroe County, Oakland County, St. Clair County, Washtenaw County, Wayne County and the City of Detroit.
